Nearly everyone loves a good deviled egg. They have returned as a classic party appetizer, having a resurgence from their 1970s heyday. But deviled eggs now have taken a fancy twist and you see them adorned with caviar and taking on all kinds of interesting flavors.
I love my offerings with an Asian miso twist, or simply with a smoky, pimento cheese spread twist.

I hate to openly admit this, being a Southerner, 40 years in the making, but I have never ever liked pimento cheese spread. I know it's a classic here in the south, but the flavors just never sang to me… Until now.
I went about making a spread that I thought I might like, replacing briny pimentos with smoky roasted red pepper. I continued the smoky theme by adding smoked cheddar (or smoked Gouda) in place of the traditional cheddar cheese. Success! A most delicious, smoky, pimento cheese spread that my husband declared was very good, very, very good, very, very, very good! I think that's pretty high praise from him.

Wow! This word comes to mind when I'm thinking of this pizza. There seems to be a lot going on, but truly this is an assembly job and all these flavors meld together so well. (Kinda like our amazing blended family). Each has a part and when they all come together, it's pure fun.
