Anything in a bowl seems fun and more festive. It lends a sense of coziness when you're eating it as if you want to curl up on a couch with your bowl and dive in. Whether it's an acai bowl, which I adore and eat frequently in the summer, or a loaded oatmeal bowl (recipes coming soon), a meal out of a bowl is simply joyful.

Who doesn't love a good cupcake? They're like your own personal handheld cake that you can dive right into. No plate or fork required.
Even better is the fact that cupcakes bake and cool more quickly than cakes, so enjoyment of the miniature sweet is right around the corner. Gratification is more instantaneous.
There's nothing more comforting than a cozy bowl of soup on a cold, wintry day. I love to make soup since you can make a large pot and have it for several days after that, or even freeze portions for a quick thaw & reheat at a later date.
Soup is nourishing and there's something about making soup that empowers you and makes you feel like you've really accomplished something. It's almost zen like, then to place a steaming bowl or mug in front of your loved ones yields my "perfect day" kind of vibe.
Stuffed peppers are a fabulous budget friendly, easy meal. My mom would make stuffed peppers when we were kids and they were always so delicious and homey. The kind of humble, comforting dish that makes you feel all cozy inside. While Mom used green bell peppers, as I started making stuffed peppers as an adult I found I preferred red or yellow bell peppers. They were sweeter, which I appreciated.
Out of pure curiosity, I tried stuffing a poblano pepper for one of our evening meals and fell in love with the very subtle heat that poblanos have. While I can't handle a lot of heat, I do like an innuendo of heat, which the poblano provides. |
