Tim and I have really been loving my Lime Jalapeño Mocktails this summer. They are the perfect non-alcoholic drink for a sunny summer afternoon or evening, having that slight bitterness of tonic water, zing of lime and subtle fire of jalapeño.
The longer the jalapeño sits in the tonic water, the spicier your drink becomes, so I find myself slowly sipping and as I get toward the bottom of the glass, the last sips are the spiciest sips.
You can easily make this a stunning cocktail by adding your favorite alcohol, such as vodka or gin, but I find it simply refreshing and vibrant just the way it is, sans liquor.
You can be creative with your ice, using one of those big balls of ice which are super fun in this drink. You can also garnish your drink with additional jalapeño or a sprig of mint to make it pretty. Totally up to you.
If you want to take it a step further, try using my simple syrup jalapeños in this cocktail. You can even use some of the fiery simple syrup if you want a sweeter beverage, but I really like the freshness of the tonic water as is.
Make one of these today and see if this doesn't end up on your regular rotation of fun drinks this summer. Lime Jalapeno Mocktail For 1 mocktail 1 lime wedge (1/6 to 1/4 of a lime) 1-2 jalapeno slices (or use my Simple Syrup Jalapeños) Tonic water Ice Mint sprigs (optional for garnish) Vodka or gin (optional to make a cocktail) Squeeze the lime wedge into your serving glass. Drop in the lime wedge. Add your jalapeño slices. Drop in your ice then top off with tonic water. I like to adorn mine with a sprig of mint or an additional jalapeño slice poised on the rim of the glass If you like a sweeter mocktail, you can use some of the syrup from the Simple Syrup Jalapeños if you are using those. Add vodka or gin If you want to make this a cocktail.
