Everybody loves a special butter when you go out to a nice restaurant. Some places serve a cinnamon honey butter with sweet potatoes and we're all in love with savory herb butter with lucious warm rolls.
Well I'm here to tell you that you can have that all at home and it really takes next to no time to make. You can even get the kids involved in the process as this can be done in a stand mixer, with an electric mixer, or in a large mason jar that the kids can pass around and shake, shake, shake until the magic of butter happens.
Imagine making whatever kind of flavored butter you desire. Your imagination is the only limitation.
I got real gimmicky by adding the butterfly pea powder, which adds a gorgeous periwinkle color. It doesn't flavor the butter, but just gives it a whimsical color that I thought would be perfect for my Easter table to accompany some fluffy biscuits.
You can find butterfly pea powder on our SHOP page and it's used to color fancy drinks like my Blue Christmas White Hot Chocolate, or in the case, butter. I have a small container on hand for adding a colorful touch when I think the occasion calls for such a thing.
Buy a container of heavy whipping cream and make your favorite version of this luxurious soft, spreadable butter. This butter will keep in the fridge for a couple weeks. Just pull it out to come to room temperature before serving for that great spreadability factor.
Easy Homemade Butter
(Honey Cardamom or Rosemary) 2 cups heavy whipping cream 1/2 teaspoon course sea salt 1/4 teaspoon cardamom (optional) 1 teaspoon butterfly pea powder (optional) (this is for the beautiful periwinkle version) 1-2 tablespoons honey (for the sweet version) 1-2 teaspoons chopped rosemary (for the savory version) Whip the cream until in goes past the "whipped cream" stage and starts to become the consistency of soft butter. This can be done with either a hand or stand mixer and will take 3-5 minutes. While the cream whips, add the salt and then your mix-ins. I love the cardamom for and honey for a sweet version and then rosemary for a savory version, which is great spread over a rustic bread. You can also add the cream to a large mason jar with plenty of room to spare and then shake until it becomes a soft butter consistency. This is a great task to put in the hands of the kiddos.
