Everybody loves cheeseburgers. Everybody loves pizza. I'm here to attest that a mash up of the two is a match made in Heaven, or at least made in my kitchen.
I've taken everything that is so quintessentially wonderful about a cheeseburger and put it into pizza form. The pizza dough being the bun and I've not spared the pickles.
Even the sauce is a mayo, ketchup and mustard mix with an extra zing from sriracha to give it a slight element of heat. Add more sriracha if you want. I love that Thrive Market has a value pack that contains ketchup, mustard & Mayo. Click the link here to purchase. The mayo is coconut oil based and is quite delicious. I have it in my fridge right now,
I use ground turkey that I've cooked with a decent amount of salt and pepper, but also added a healthy dose of worchestershire sauce to give this ground turkey a nice deep flavor. You can certainly use ground beef as well since that's more true to form, but I was trying to lighten this up a bit as I typically do. It's totally up to you what you use, If you want to use a plant based meat, that would be totally fine too.
Although the cheese for a cheeseburger can come in many forms, arguably the best meltingly gooey cheese for a cheeseburger is good old American cheese. I use Velveeta shreds on this pizza which didn't disappoint. Perfectly oozy.
Topping the hot pizza straight out of the oven with fresh sliced grape tomatoes and shreds of cool iceberg lettuce is glorious. You just want more. A drizzle of the sauce over the top is the crowning touch. Cheeseburger in paradise.
Cheeseburger Pizza
1 recipe easy pizza dough (or store bought) 1 pound lean ground beef or turkey (precooked and cooled) *See cook's note 2 cups shredded American or cheddar cheese (like Velveeta shreds) or more if you like it super cheesy 1/4 red onion, sliced or diced 1/3 cup dill pickle chips (or more if you like) 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, cut in half lengthwise 1/4 head iceberg lettuce, cut into shreds Pizza Sauce 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/3 cup ketchup 1/4 cup mustard 1 tablespoon sriracha (optional) Mix well. I love that my affiliate, Thrive Market, has a value pack that contains ketchup, mustard & Mayo. Click the link here to purchase. The mayo is coconut oil based and is quite delicious. I have it in my fridge right now, Preheat oven to 425 degrees Roll or stretch and pat out dough into the shape of your pizza pan. I use a stoneware pan and press my dough out onto oiled parchment paper to make it easy on myself. I like a thin, crisp crust so I press the dough out thinly, but if you like a doughier pizza, then prepare your dough accordingly. Making your own dough is really easy with my simple recipe. Using a stand mixer with a dough hook makes in a never fail dough. See my recipe here. Spread all but about 1/4 cup of the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Spread the ground beef or turkey over the sauce then sprinkle over the cheese. Place the onion and dill pickles evenly over the surface then bake for about 25-30 minutes until the dough is crisp on the bottom and the cheese has melted. Once out of the oven, adorn with the fresh tomatoes and shredded iceberg lettuce. Drizzle more of the sauce over the top. Slice and serve. It's a cheeseburger pizza in paradise. *Cook's note - I almost always use ground turkey in place of beef but for this I cook the ground turkey with salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon of Worchestershire sauce that lends a great deep flavor to otherwise bland turkey.
