What Is Korean Banana Milk?
Originally created by Binggrae in the 1970s, Korean banana milk is subtly sweet, milky, and lightly flavored with banana. It’s not as thick as a smoothie, but not as plain as regular milk—somewhere blissfully in between. You can find bottled versions at Asian grocery stores, or make a homemade version with real banana & milk of your choice.

How to Make It at Home (in a nutshell):
  1. Make banana milk: Blend 1 ripe banana with 1 cup milk of choice.
  2. Brew espresso or strong coffee: One shot is ideal, but you can double up.
  3. Combine: Pour banana milk into a glass with ice, then float the espresso on top for that layered look.
  4. Optional toppings: Whipped cream, banana slices, cinnamon, or a dusting of cocoa.

Korean Banana Milk Latte

Ingredients:
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy like oat or almond) (this will more than likely be more than you need for 1 drink)
  • 1 shot espresso or ¼ cup strong brewed coffee or cold brew coffee
  • Ice cubes
Optional toppings:
  • Whipped cream
  • Banana slices
  • Cinnamon or cocoa powder

  1. Make the banana milk.  Saute the banana in a small skillet until caramelized for extra deep, sweet flavor.  Adding this optional step omits the need for any additional sugar or sweetener.
  2. In a blender, combine the banana and milk, Blend until smooth and frothy..
  3. Chill (optional)
Pour the banana milk into a glass and refrigerate for 5–10 minutes if you want it extra cold.
  4. Add ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  5. Top with espresso
Slowly pour the espresso shot, strong coffee or cold brew coffee over the banana milk for a beautiful layered effect.
  6. Garnish & enjoy
Add toppings if desired. Stir before drinking!
