Tips for the Best Miso Butter Pasta
  • White miso creates the mildest, slightly sweet flavor, while red miso offers a deeper, more robust taste.
  • Always reserve pasta water—its starch helps create a silky sauce without adding cream.
  • Fresh herbs brighten the richness of the butter and miso, making the dish taste surprisingly fresh.
  • Taste before adding salt, as miso naturally brings plenty of savory seasoning.
Easy Variations
This recipe is delicious exactly as written, but it's also a wonderful base for additions:
  • Top with grated Parmesan for extra richness.
  • Stir in sautéed mushrooms for earthy flavor.
  • Add wilted spinach or baby kale.
  • Toss with roasted broccoli or asparagus.
  • Finish with toasted sesame seeds or crushed roasted peanuts for texture.
Serving Suggestions
Pair this pasta with a crisp green salad, roasted vegetables, or warm crusty bread. It's equally satisfying as a simple lunch or a cozy dinner and pairs beautifully with grilled shrimp, salmon, or roasted chicken if you'd like to add protein.

This 4-Ingredient Miso Butter Pasta proves that a handful of quality ingredients can create something truly memorable. The butter adds luxurious richness, the miso delivers irresistible umami, and the fresh basil keeps everything bright and balanced. Add a few slices of fresh chili pepper if you're craving a little heat, and you'll have an effortless meal that tastes like it came from your favorite neighborhood bistro.
Simple, comforting, and incredibly flavorful—this is one pasta recipe you'll find yourself making again and again.
